Family,
This week was a very interesting week. Nothing went as planned but a lot of things happened for the better. We had the baptism this week of the little girl whose dad doesn’t like us. We went to their house on Thursday and the little girl said that she was sad that she wasn’t baptized and that she would like to be baptized this week. We were very careful this time. It was nice to know that the girl really wants to be baptized and that no one is pressuring her or anything.
Last time we indirectly asked the dad for permission where the mom asked him about it but this time we directly asked him. We asked if we could talk to him for a minute but he just left the room. We then had the mom call him again and after a while he came and we told him that his daughter wants to be baptized and that we want his permission in order to do it. He said that if she wants to, he doesn’t have a problem with it. The baptism was great and the confirmation on Sunday was great too. Sunday night however was the mom’s birthday and we went there for the party and the dad said he wanted to talk to us.
We had one of the most interesting conversations I’ve had in my life. Long story short we won’t be going to that house again. He does not like us in his house so we’re going to have to teach the mom and the daughter at the house of one of the members who lives close.
We had an interesting lesson with a Jehovah’s witness this week. It was a very very nice lady that invited us into her home. We didn’t bible bash but we discussed ideas and we clarified her questions that she had about our church like why does everyone say that we use a different ´bible´ and stuff. She definitely has some interesting interpretations on the bible. The conversation just strengthened my testimony that to know the truth you need to ask God.
Elton and Eliara are still working on getting their wedding coming along. We had a family night with them this week at Claudia’s house and after we ate pancakes (American style) with syrup. It was a lot of fun. Also this Sunday we were invited over to their house for lunch. Elder Burton and Elder Vigeta who live with us were also invited. I’ve never seen so much food before in my life. There was a huge barbeque with lots of meat and potatoes and rice and lasagna and cake after. It was the first time in a long time that I actually felt sick because of eating so much. It’s so nice to know that they trust us and love us though.
Our area here is growing quite a bit. There are a lot of great people that we’re teaching and if everything goes as planned we’ll have another baptism this Sunday. It’s been raining a lot this week but at least it hasn’t been really hot. I left my window open one day and I returned to a wet bed. We also had our interviews with Pres Myrrha this week. I always feel so much better after talking to him. He’s a very great motivator and teacher.
I’m glad to know that Grandma’s ok. That’s scary that they don’t know what caused her to feel those chest pains though. Let me know when they find out or when they’re sure that nothing is wrong.
That’s crazy that Jake is already driving. Just make sure he doesn’t ruin my car! :) Oh and if you’re going to send me a package would you be able to send me some maple extract bottles. I don’t know how much they cost but if they aren’t that expensive could you send me a bunch. It’s a great gift to give to people here who have never tried maple. Oh and of course don’t forget the cheesecake :) How much does one of those cost anyways? I’m just curious.
Well I hope that you all have a great week and I’ll talk to you all later.
I love you all!!!
