Week 85 February 25, 2008

Family,

I hope that Thomas is feeling better now. I had no idea that he has been sick for so long. That’s too bad that he missed so much school. That’s awesome though that he’ll be able to get his eagle here in a little bit.

Things have been going great with Elder Santiago. He’s got a lot of energy and desire to serve and it’s been really nice these couple of weeks.

Hey, could you do me a favor? Could you get some information from the bishop for me? I’d like to know how many members we have in our ward, and how many stakes there are in Bountiful, and maybe some statistics like how many people are active in our ward. There are a lot of missionaries here that ask me about my ward at home and it will be good to let them know. Thanks!

This Tuesday we had a great conference with Elder Hinckley in Alegrete. He told us about the last week before President Hinckley passed away. Also I got to see Sister Rosa again which was nice and the Fagundes family who are very good friends of mine. That was most likely the last time I’ll see them though unless I do get transferred to somewhere near Alegrete.

This week we did a division with the Zone Leaders for a couple of days. It was a lot of fun. My companion Elder Santiago went to the Zone Leader’s area and Elder Luis came here with me. We had some great days and at night we would order pizza from Uruguay and some Coke. When we finished the division, Elder Santiago was really sick. We ended up going home and he slept the whole day. On Saturday, we had planned for the baptism of Claudia’s daughter. We had filled up the font, invited the members and everything. We passed by their house a little before the baptism and no one was there.

We waited at the church and they didn’t show up. The husband of Claudia doesn’t like us and ended up telling his daughter that she can’t be baptized. When we went there later that night to see what happened with the baptism, the husband said he doesn’t want us to return to his house again. We’re going to try to teach them at a house of a member nearby. Claudia and her daughter want to go to church but the husband is completely against it. His religion is Macumba which is basically like Voodoo and it’s sad to see him do this to himself and his family.

We had a pretty hard week this week but we’re excited for this next week. I hope that you all have a wonderful week and I’ll talk to you later!

I love you infinity!!!
Elder Fowler
