Family,
This week we had a great experience teaching Carla and Elton’s parents. Carla and Elton are two little kids that were baptized a few weeks ago. Their parents were always trying to keep their distance from us but lately they’ve been talking to us a lot and we’ve been able to gain their trust. The dad gave me a cuia which is a cup specifically designed to drink Chimarrão- a green type of tea that everyone drinks here. Two days ago we went there and we had planned to talk about marriage with them. I was very nervous at first and didn’t know how they’d handle it. It’s a hard topic to teach especially since I’m not married and I’m trying to tell them about the importance of being married and not just living together. We talked about the temple and that marriage is ordained of God and right after they started showing a lot of interest in starting the marriage process. This family is so neat and I will be so happy to see them baptized.
This week we picked up a scorpion off the road when we were heading back home at night. We put it in an empty ice-cream bucket and watched it. It sat there for a day and we decided we’d have to feed it. We fed it a huge spider that we found and we caught a few grasshoppers to feed it too. We’ve been having fun with it.
I made one of the cheesecake packages and I decided to give it to Claudia and Clenise and their family. They are a family that I’m really close to here. They absolutely loved it. There are some other families now that I’m going to want to give some cheesecake to also.
Tomorrow we have a conference in Alegrete. Elder Richard Hinckley of the 70 is going to talk to us missionaries. It’s going to be amazing and I’m so excited. We’ll be leaving at 4:30 in the morning.
That’s crazy to think that you guys are receiving that much snow there. You guys must be having a lot of fun there. I’m kind of used to the heat but I still don’t like it. Sundays are the worst when we have to wear a suit to church. Sweat is literally dripping off my nose in Sacrament meeting and I look around me and it doesn’t look like anyone else that’s in a suit is sweating. Well I hope that you all have a great week and enjoy the snow!
I love you all!!!
