Week 78 January 7, 2008

Family,

Well we got a great New Years and Christmas present from our mission president this week. We had someone knock on the door and they entered the apartment with a new fridge, stove, and washing machine!!! It is such a nice washing machine too. It’s not like the other machines here that just spin the clothes. This machine puts fills up and drains and spin dries. We’re all so excited.

This week we had a lot of success in our teaching. Yesterday was an amazing day for us. We had a lot of our investigators show up at church. We are taught a lady on Saturday about the word of wisdom and she doesn’t have any problems with smoking or drinking and will stop drinking coffee. She went to church on Sunday and everyone thought she was a member because she talked to everyone so much. Tonight we’re going to have a family night with her, which will be really nice. We’ll mark her baptism tomorrow for next week maybe. The only hard thing is that she is from Columbia and doesn’t speak Portuguese. She can understand Portuguese but she only speaks in Spanish. Surprisingly I am able to communicate with her and understand her really well. It’s a lot of fun teaching her. In Alegrete I saw a book of Mormon in Spanish that I took from the house and I’ve had with me ever since. She asked for a book of Mormon in Spanish because it’s harder for her to read in Portuguese and it was really cool to know that the book in Spanish came to use.

This week was extremely hot here but we’re having a great time here. This Friday we have zone conference here.

Mom, I’ve thought a lot about you coming here to Brazil. I’ve heard about some mission Presidents that completely discourage parents coming to pick up their sons here but this mission isn’t against it. President Mack encouraged it and President Myrrha said it would be really fun experience and he was all for it too. It was interesting reading the letter from another missionary mom. I thought about it a lot and I would really like you to come here. I wouldn’t feel like it would be an awkward situation having to be with you at all times and I don’t think it would be weird for me to go traveling and visiting the cities I visited. My feelings about it are that I would love for you to come. Are you up for it!? You’ll have to find out though the process of you getting your visa and passport and stuff.

Have a great week everybody!! I love you all and talk to you next week!

I love you infinity!!!

P.S. I am sending a letter to both you and Dad for your birthdays. With the transfer that happened and stuff I wasn’t able to send dad’s in time and I decided to write a letter to you both since your birthdays are so close. I hope it gets to you before your birthday though :)
