Family,
Yeah I know Elder Kenworthy. He’s my LZ here. He’s such an awesome guy. At Zone Conferences, me, him and Elder Christiansen talk a lot. Oh by the way, has elder Christiansen’s mom called you yet. He said that his mom would call you a couple of weeks ago but I didn’t hear anything.
Thanks for sending the package. Cleber will be really happy to get the camera. Cleber unfortunately will be moving to a different city. He’ll be here for a couple of months but then he’ll be moving out. I’ll miss him. I’ll be able to use the money here for a lot of stuff. There’s some gaucho clothes that I can buy here for cheaper than other cities and I’m going to buy some sweet knives with the handles made out of armadillo tails.
Well the fishing trip last week was really great. Elder Silvério caught 5 fish, Cleber caught another 5, and I only caught 1. Yeah it was pretty embarrassing. I hadn’t caught anything until we were at the last piece of bait that we had. It was a lot of fun but for some reason it wore me out more than playing soccer on Pdays. We returned back home and just collapsed.
This week has been incredibly humid. It is just like summer now and I don’t know where spring went. This week I got pretty sick but I’m a lot better now. I don’t exactly know what I had. At first it started with pain in my kidneys and Sister Myrrha was worried that it would be a urine infection. Then it turned into just a cold and then ended with a fever. I probably could have recovered from it in a day or so but it took almost the whole week. Walking in the sun was what made me more sick. We had some appointments that we couldn’t miss and I wasn’t able to take a day off but I’m completely better now. When I was sick a lot of the members felt worried for me. The members here really have a deep concern for the missionaries. When we ate at a sister’s house here, she left in the rain to go find a rare plant to make me a tea that helps with pain. It was really nice of her and I was impressed with the kindness of the members.
This week was Independence Day here in Brazil. The mission pres gave us permission to go to the parade since practically the whole city was going to be there and we’d have no one to teach anyways. Well you know how I don’t really like the parades at home right? Well this parade was almost 5 hours long and over half the time it was a demonstration of the schools here where the kids would just walk. We saw some of the groups twice too. It was a lot of fun though to see some members and investigators in the parade. At the end, they had the military demonstration where they brought in all the tanks from the city- about 10 or so- and they drove past everyone. The end was cool but the 4 and a half hours up to it were difficult.
I just had one of the scariest experiences of my life a couple minutes ago. Now that I look back on it though I can laugh. I went to get my haircut but the guy that usually cuts my hair was remodeling his barber shop so I had to go to another place. As I sat down on the chair I told the guy the way I wanted my hair cut and I could see that he had a problem with his eyes. He kept blinking weird and his head would twitch too. He also had a problem where his hands would twitch. He would grab a piece of my hair to cut and then would try to cut it but he would miss! He tried standing in front of the mirror a little so I wouldn’t be able to notice. Then at the end, he pulled out a razor to shave my neck. I just about died. He actually did a really good job though it’s just that my heart was pounding the whole time.
Well everything here in Rosário is going along great. We’re teaching a lot and I’m having the best time of my life right now. My major regret right now is letters. I have a lot of people to respond letters too that I haven’t yet. I haven’t been very good at that lately. It’s just that with 4 elders here in the same house we’re always doing something and it’s hard to find time. I’ll find some time today though. I hope that you all have a great week. I love you all!!!
Thanks for everything.
I love you infinity!!!
