Week 58 August 20, 2007

Family,

That’s so great to hear that you guys are in Colorado right now! I hope that you’re all having fun! You’ll have to send me some pictures and tell me about it.

Today was transfers. Elder Salvador got transferred to Alegrete! He will be going to the same ward but different area. He switched areas with a guy named Elder Silvério who will now be my companion. Elder Silvério arrived in Alegrete with Elder Luciano, my last companion so I know him already.

This week was one of the craziest weeks here on the mission. We had the wedding of Catiane and Márcio. Just about everything that could have gone wrong, ended up happening. It was a cold day on Friday and it started to rain. They live far away from the place they were supposed to get married and there was no way they would walk with a new baby. We asked member here who has a car (the only member that has a car) if he could give her a ride and he said there wouldn’t be a problem. The wedding was planned for 4:10 but he showed up really really late- 5:20. Long story short, we were able to get there before they closed and they got married. I was one of the testimonies (I think he means witnesses) for their wedding. It was nice but it seemed really rushed to me. The judge wanted to go home I could tell and we had kept him at work over his time. After the wedding, we went to the church for the family to be interviewed for the baptism the next day. One of the little girls said that she drank coffee a few days ago- the rule is you can’t break the word of wisdom for at least a week before. Then later we heard the bad news that the water heater was still broken and so we had to cancel the baptism. I could tell Elder Salvador was pretty sad that he won’t be here for the baptism.

Even though they didn’t get baptized it was really good that their wedding happened. They’ve showed a lot of desire to do the right things and they’re ready to be baptized this Saturday.

The other day Elder Salvador plugged my CD player into the wall without the converter. We took it to a shop to get fixed and they fixed the transformer inside but it still doesn’t work. They said that they don’t know if they can do anything else since it’s an imported machine but we’re going to see what we can do.

Well Elder Salvador needs to go say his goodbyes so I’ll talk to you all later! Have a great trip! Tchau!

I love you infinity!!!
Elder Fowler
