Family,
Well this week was pretty great. Me and my comp lately have been into pastels. We make them every night. I’ll probably start gaining some weight if I eat them every day. I’ve been eating a lot more lately. When it starts to get cold I’m able to eat more I don’t know why. It’s still getting colder and colder. I can see my breath right now as I’m typing. The humid cold here is really something different. It never will really get below freezing here but last night I felt like I was freezing to death as I was walking home. I had on a long sleeve shirt and a sweater and then my big overcoat that we bought at Men’s Wearhouse. Even with all that stuff the wind was making me so cold. There was no fall here between the summer and the winter. It’s either really cold or really hot and usually nothing in between.
This week we were planning on baptizing Eva this Saturday. She didn’t go to church though and as a rule she has to go to church one more time before she can be baptized. We stopped by her house Sunday morning and she said that she was running a little bit late but that she’ll meet us at the Church. I felt really frustrated at first. We had been fasting for her that she would be able to go to church and that she would still have this desire to be baptized. All week I had been thinking of her and how we would be able to help her. On Saturday, we invited her to pray fast about her doubts she has about being baptized. When she didn’t show up to church I got a little discouraged. The next day we stopped by her house. I didn’t really know what to expect. She said that the reason she couldn’t go was because her mom was having health problems right as she was about to leave to go to church. Eva’s mom lives with her so that Eva can take care of her. I felt really bad when all I had been worrying is about Eva going to church. We talked to her and she said that she really feels good about her baptism. We marked her baptism for the 19 of this month. She told us that when she fasted she felt a peace that she hadn’t felt in a long time. That was one of the most spiritual lessons I’ve had.
This week we taught a really cool family. There are two twin girls that are really nice and the parents are relatives of a member that we know here. (I’ll have to tell Taylor that we’re teaching twins here. He’ll get a good laugh out of that). They asked us where we’re from and I told them that I’m from São Paulo. The dad believed me and said that I don’t look like a Brazilian but that I sound like a Brazilian. That was the first time someone said I have a Brazilian accent. But then a few minutes later I found out he has problems hearing. Oh well, one day I hope my accent can pass as Brazilian.
Me and Elder Luciano have been doing great here. We’ve been working really hard and we’ve been able to find a lot of new families. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve already made one month here with Elder Luciano. Before I know it this transfer will be over and I’ll be in a different city.
This Sunday I’ll probably call between 2 and 5 o’clock your time. Sorry it’s a little vague.
That’s great to hear how well your new critique group is going. Thanks for keeping me updated. I’m really to be able to talk to you and the family this Sunday. After this Sunday I’ll have to wait till next Christmas to talk on the phone again. It will be really good to hear everyone’s voices. I’ll talk to you in a few days!!!
I love you infinity!!!
