Hey Mom!
Yeah I’ll tell Irmã Rosa that you’re sending her a package. She’ll be so happy. She does have a cd player so she’ll love the CD. Yeah when I receive packages it looks like they haven’t been opened up at all so I think the system is working great.
That’s so cool that you got invited to children’s literature critique group. When will that start? You’ll have to tell me how that goes. I talked to the bishop here and he said that we can use the phone in the church again to call you on Mother’s Day. I will have been here for Halloween, Christmas, New Years, Valentines, and Mother’s day. I really do like this area. It’s going to be really hard to leave all these people that I’ve met here. I’ll talk to you next week about a time that I could call you guys.
Well here’s the letter that I wrote to the family :)
Family,
Well another week has already gone by. Time is cruising right now. This week a lot of great stuff happened. First of all it got really cold for a few days here. I was wearing my big winter coat. The weather here is really weird. On Wednesday and Thursday I wore my coat and a sweater and then it rained Friday and then Saturday and Sunday got really hot and I started to sweat a lot again and today it’s raining again. From what I hear though it’s going to start to get cold again. Showering isn’t fun though in the cold. It’s going to take a while to get used to a humid cold.
This week we set a baptismal date for a lady named Eva and her son Vitor. We’ve taught Eva for a while and she decided that she’s ready for baptism. We’ve talked to her for a while and she didn’t really feel too comfortable about baptism. However, this week she said that she’s ready. The next day we had a family night at Irmã Rosa’s house and we invited her. She came and had a great time. I can’t tell you how awkward it was though at first. There were a lot of people there and a lady named Maximiana went there too. She has 77 years and is the sweetest lady. When Eva walked into the house, I could tell she was a little uncomfortable at first. She didn’t really know too many people- only from the few times she went to church. She sat down on the couch and then people started talking to her about where she lives and all that stuff. Then Maximiana said, “Hey I remember seeing you at church a while ago. It’s been a while since you’ve gone to church hasn’t it”. Luckily, Irmâ Rosa came in and tried to make the situation a little less awkward. The family night went very well. We had a great lesson from the bishop and played some games. When 9:30 rolled by we told Eva that we’d have to leave. One of the members told Eva that she could give her a ride home. Eva told us that we could leave and she would stay. The next day Irmã Rosa told me that she stayed there for another hour and a half longer just talking. I was so happy to know that she is comfortable talking to the members here now.
Yesterday was a great day also this week. We had a ward party. I have to say that was one of the best ward parties I’ve ever seen in my life! I heard we were having a Churrasco but I was just expecting to sit on a chair and talk with people until the food’s ready. When we got there, I was shocked. There were a lot of people and there were so many things going on. There was a ping-pong table and a soccer and volêbol game going on. Also they had one of the best sound systems I’ve ever seen in my life. The speakers were moving on the floor because they were putting out so much sound. I bet you can guess where I sat when I ate. The party was great and I had a lot of fun.
Well I hope that you have a great week Mom! I’ll talk to you later!
I love you infinity!!!
