Week 97 May 19, 2008

Family,

Hey it’s good to hear that everyone’s doing so well. Here things are going great. This week we had a lot of great experiences that I’d like to tell you all about.

We had a great experience this week where we were able to go to one of the public schools here and talk to all the kids. We answered some of the questions they had about Moses and some other biblical prophets. It was really cool because all 12 of us missionaries in the city went to the school. We were able to tell them about our work and what we do here.

This week we also heard some really good news. There’s a member called Claudia here who is recently returning to the church. We baptized her daughter and soon we will be baptizing her son. We were having a lot of problems however in teaching this wonderful family because the dad was very unaccepting of us. Whenever he answered the door, he would tell us that there’s no one home when we could see that his family was there. In order to teach the family we relied on the fact that the husband wouldn’t answer the door. He does Voodoo and drinks a lot and even the bishop said that when he met him he could feel that there really wasn’t much light in him.

But anyways so this week I called Claudia to see if it was possible for us to teach her and she said she had good news. It’s been a couple of weeks now since her husband hasn’t been drinking alcohol and he has been going to a Christian church and said that one day he will go to our church.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard such good news in my life. I am sad to say that I didn’t have any faith that this man would change. It’s been 30 years since he’s been drinking and I never thought that he would be able to change. It was very nice to hear the good news and to recognize that nothing is impossible here on the mission.

Tomorrow we have a zone conference which will be very nice. I’ll be able to see Elder Santiago and some of the other elders that I know.

I hope that you all have a great week and I’ll talk to you all later.

I love you!!!
Elder Fowler
