Week 48 June 13, 2007

Family,

Thank you all for your letters wishing me Happy Birthday. This birthday will definitely be one I’ll never forget.

This last week we had a Zone Conference. It was the last zone conference with President Mack. He and Sister Mack will be leaving home the first week of July. The Zone Conference went very good because it was in Alegrete! We took a bus ride to Alegrete and I got to see the city again. Going into the chapel was very nice. There were some members there that were cleaning the chapel. I had eaten at their house many times for lunches and it was very nice to talk to them for a while. I saw Elder Luciano, my last companion, and it was so great to talk to him. It felt very nice to be able to see the same friends again. Irmã Rosa told Elder Luciano that she would try to come to the chapel but she didn’t end up having time. After the Zone Conference we watched the Testaments and then ate lunch. Sister Mack then gave us all a hug since it was her last time seeing us. It felt weird hugging someone but it was good to say goodbye to Pres and Sister Mack. They’ve done a very good job in helping us.

This Sunday I gave a talk in Sacrament meeting. I talked about our families and ways that we can strengthen our homes. It was raining a lot but surprisingly a lot of members showed up. It was a great Sunday.

The baptism we have marked this Saturday is still on. It will be very nice to baptize him. Hopefully he will be an example for the rest of his family. His name is Philip and he has 8 years. We’ve been teaching his parents and struggling with them to stop smoking. Every time we leave their house, our clothes smell like smoke. They’re doing a little bit better but they don’t have a big desire to stop. If they don’t have a desire than we can’t do anything to help them. We’re still working helping them find the desire and willpower to stop.

The city here is so great. I’ve met a lot of the members by now and I’ve learned to love everyone of them. There’s some little kids here that are our protectors. There’s a neighborhood here that’s dangerous at night and the little kids will walk with us till it’s safe. They tell us that they’ll protect us from the robbers.

Thanks for all the support you give me! Have a great week!

I love you infinity!!!
Elder Fowler
