Week 47 June 6, 2007

Family,

Well my first week here in Rosário was really great. The area here is bigger than my last area which is good. There are some steep hills but there’s only one neighborhood that’s dangerous at night. There’s not a ward here but there’s two branches. From what I’ve learned there used to be a Stake here in Rosário but there were a lot of problems and a lot of people have been moving because work is really hard to find (Same situation as Alegrete).

The branch president here is really nice. I felt very welcome since the first day. It’s been really fun to get to know the people here. P-days are really boring though. We don’t even play soccer here. There’s just not enough people to play so we just stay at home and sleep and write letters.

That’s great to hear that school’s over. What’s the situation at home now? I know that Thomas is working but does anyone else have work in mind or is everyone going to just kick back and enjoy the summer. That’s awesome that Anna gets to go to Disneyland. That sounds like so much fun. I definitely miss that place.

We have a family with a baptism date for the 16th of June but the parents are still smoking so they may not be baptized but the little boy is excited still. We also have some investigators here that need to get married before they can be baptized so we’re going to help them with that process. They don’t have a job and money is very very short for them. We will be sending someone to another city to get a certificate of birth that is necessary for the wedding to be legal. Me and Elder Salvador will be paying for someone to travel to a different city because the family has no money. Money is going to be tight here because we haven’t received money for a while here on the mission. There’s been some problems and a lot of missionaries have no money at all and have to go with just eating lunches each day at the members house. I haven’t needed to use the credit card yet but with this wedding and the problems of receiving money from the mission I may need to but probably only for food.

This Friday we have a Zone Conference. It will be the last Zone Conference with President Mack. He will be done serving his 3 years this month. Then at the beginning of July the new president will come by and visit all the cities.

The house that I’m living at is pretty nice. I lucked out on getting another machine to wash clothes. It’s worse than the last one but it’s still better than nothing. The only thing wrong with our house is the stove. It leaks propane every once in a while so we have to turn off the propane each time we use it. Our house is really big though and the kitchen is nice too.

Elder Salvador is a great companion. He loves to work and always is happy and excited to teach. He has 15 months on the mission. I’m very excited for this transfer.

Thanks for going through the trouble of sending me a package. I’ll let you know when I get it. I hope that you have a great week mom! I’ll talk to you later.

I love you infinity!!!
Elder Fowler
