Week 14

Hey Dad!

Thanks for the advice about being a good missionary. I’ll try to find that center between your two missionary companions. That’s great that you had those two days off for work. I can picture your reaction to some of the people in the NAMI conference. I’d have the same reaction.

I heard about Lexi. I’m so sorry that happened. Mom told me that everyone has been having a hard time. She was an amazing dog. I’m really going to miss her. As much as I didn’t want to bathe her and was frustrated when she peed on the carpet, I still loved her. It’s good that she was able to be buried at the cabin though. I hope that you guys had a fun time at the cabin with everyone despite the fact that Lexi died.

This week was a good week. We went to a member’s house that was about 20 minutes away and we brought steaks and had lunch. The meat here is really cheap and really good. There were a lot of flies but the food was amazing.

Also this week I had my first service project in the field. Guess what it was... Painting! We painted the outside of a house but only for 3 hours so it wasn’t that bad. I guess even here on the mission I can’t escape painting.

Oh about the mp3 player thing. That would be awesome. I miss classical music so much. I really wish I would have brought some with me.

Well this week I’m short on time. Thanks for the advice and letting me know how things are going at home. Have a great week and I’ll talk to you next week. I love you!!!Elder Fowler

Hey Mom!

That’s so sad that Lexi died. I’m really going to miss her. I really did love her. Other than the Lexi incident I hoped that you guys had a fun trip.

I’ve got some advice for Dan. First of all, happy birthday tomorrow. Second of all, don’t buy 3 pairs of the comfortable shoes only buy one. The sole of my shoe is already starting to wear down. When I first noticed it this week I just laughed. I go through shoes so freaking fast!! It’s not bad right now but it will get worse. I love the shoes and I’ve had no problem when it rains. The cobblestone roads here are really bad on shoes though and I don’t know how it is in Rio. Also personal study time goes by pretty fast. I wish I had more time each day. One hour is all you have for personal study time and the other 2 hours are for companion and language study. It goes by a lot faster than I thought it would.

Tell Joel happy birthday for me. It’s going to be so awesome when we’re all back and can talk about our missions. That’s so cool that he was able to go on a companion exchange with Mike Pilkington. He was in the jazz band with me and was way cool. What’s a birthday like on the mission?

Janet Hatch is so funny. I miss her. She is so nice and was always kind to me. I bet you were thinking that Denise was engaged. That’s the first thing I though when I read your letter.

We have a family of investigators that have a baptismal date. The wife is the one that doesn’t want to change her very Catholic background. We’re continuing to teach them. Their date is November 11th so I may not be here. The next transfer is November 1st. Our ward is about 20 members and we only have church for 2 hours cause of such small numbers. I’m eating good. I eat A LOT of bread and butter. I love bread here. It’s cheap and I go through 4 loaves a week. I pretty much live off of bread butter and eggs- I eat a little over 24 eggs a week too. Lunches at member’s houses are good. It’s mainly rice and beans but I’m not sick of rice and beans anymore. I’m never in the mood for it but I can always eat it.

Well I had my first service project and guess what it was... Painting!!! I’ll never be able to escape. Ha-ha it was very good though. It was only 3 hours.

Well I have to go. I’m out of time so I’ll talk to you next week ok? Have a great week and I love you very much!!! Thanks so much for the letters and the support and the update on how things are going at home. I love you infinity!!!!
