Brazil, Sam's week 13 in Palmeires das Misseos

Hey!! I hope this week was good for you. This week has been good. Last week I was able to try to send you some pictures. I tried and in 15 minutes it couldn’t even send 15 pictures. I think it was because I was using myldsmail.net. It’s not the best service to send pictures I guess. There was a guy here that said he would try and send some to you because we had to leave. It was really nice of him. I don’t know if you got those pictures yet. He made a CD for me which was really nice. I’ll send it to you eventually. I don’t have time today but next p-day I will.

I heard that LOST brought more questions and puzzles. I had a dream about LOST last night. I dreamed that I was watching all the episodes that I had missed on my mission. It was a great dream. Don’t worry it didn’t make me homesick when I woke up. It was my first dream in a long time. I usually never dream but anyways. I’ve gotten into a really good sleeping habit. I’m always tired when I get home so it’s easy to sleep at 10:30 and I’m usually asleep before that. And I wake up a little bit before the alarm goes off each day. It’s awesome.

Cars with subwoofers here are a big thing. Every day we hear cars drive by that the music shakes the glass from the stores. It’s awesome. One day we were walking down a street and a guy had his stereo blasting a Beatles song. I started singing it and he laughed at me. It’s amazing the influence America has here.

Last night we returned to our apartment and I saw seriously the biggest spider in my life! It was in a big crack underneath a window in our kitchen. He had a web on the wall and I fed it an ant and then watched it quickly (very quickly) come out of its hole and snatch it up back into the crack in the wall. We decided that we better kill it so we took a cockroach and put it on the web and the spider once again quickly snatched up and we were too slow. So my companion decided to smoke it out so he lit matches and stuck them in the hole. It was so funny. He’s a bigger pyro than I am. This morning we saw the spider dead on the floor so his method did work.

This week proselyting was pretty good. We’re talking to a lot of people and my Portuguese is getting better. My companion is awesome. There have been times where the language barrier has been a little frustrating. He knows quite a bit of English and I’ve been able to understand most of his Portuguese. I’ve been able to learn a lot from him. He’s a great trainer. We had zone conference this week. I don’t remember if I told you about it or not. Time here is just all meshed into one event. Anyways I was congratulated by the zone leader for having given so many contact cards my first few weeks there. He’s very nice. He likes to hug everyone, which was a little weird but he’s a nice guy. We had a great training lesson on the restoration. Well I’m already on my 4th week here! I’m half way done with this transfer. It has been way fast. I hope that you have a great week. I’ll talk to you next week! Oh don’t worry about the cockroach. There’s not a lot in our apartment. And being on the second floor helps a lot with the bugs too. I’ll talk to you later. Thank you so much for your continual love and support. I love you INFINITY!!!
