Sam's E-mail - Week 6

Hey Dad!

That’s so cool you’re able to do yoga. There’s no way I could that. You need to tell Thomas or Jake to get you a recording of Brian Regan the comedian when he talks about yoga. It’s hilarious. The trip you’ll be going on with your meditation group sounds like so much fun. It reminds me of the trip we went on at Midway. That trip was a lot of fun.

I bet you’re glad that Thomas got his license. I can’t believe he was able to pass that eye test. I will never be able to understand that. I’m sure he’s glad to have his last day of a full day of work but I’m sure he’s not too happy to start school again. Speaking of school, was everybody ready? How did shopping go? That’s funny about what you heard from Anna’s phone call to Maddie. I’m sure that made you cringe. I can picture your face right when you heard that.

That’s really sad you saw your friends boy’s obituary in the paper. You’re right- we are really lucky to have the family that we have. Everyone brings their own flavor and personality into the home. We’ve all had some really fun times and we have plenty more to come.

I’m glad you guys had so much fun at the boondocks. That place sounds like so much fun. That’s funny that Thomas and Jake got in trouble for running into each other on the go-karts. If I was there I would be right there with them.

I heard about how long the lawn was that you had to mow. It sucks to mow the lawn when it’s that long. Especially in the back where Lexi´s poop makes the grass grow even longer and stops the lawn mower when you mow over it.

Well it’s been 5 weeks here and you’re exactly right- I have my second wind on the food. I’m back into rice and beans. And you’ll be right about me getting sick of the food again I’m sure. Thanks for the challenge you gave me to really learn the language more than just what I have to know to get through. I’ll do that.

I hope that work starts getting better. It definitely sounds like you’re busy. Hey how is selling the van? Did you lower the price? Oh and is the fridge gone and the garage clean yet? Ha-ha. Oh and what’s the latest news on the Middle East? We’ve heard some stuff here but not much.

This week someone started singing the zip a dee doo dah song and now it’s stuck in my head. I’ve thought about all the trips we’ve gone to Disney Land. I have a lot of good memories of me and you there having a blast and going on Splash Mountain over and over again. This week I’ve really thought about the stuff that you and I have done. I’ve thought a lot about the cabin and all the advice you’ve given me. You’ve given me everything I could possible need to be the best person I can. Thank you so much for really caring about who I am and what I will become. I’ve got the best dad in the world. I love you! And I’ll talk to you next week.

Hey Mom!

I’m so excited to hear that Dan is going to Brazil!!! He will love it so much. I’ve been waiting all week to hear about where he’s going and to be able to read emails from the family.

I can’t believe that school has already started. It has gone by so fast. Your trip to the Boondocks sounds like a blast. I can just picture in my head everything that you described. That’s funny that Jake and Thomas got warnings for the go-karts. If I was there I would have been getting the warning with them. I love the story of the little boys squirting Dad. I bet you all had a lot of fun climbing and going on one last "Fowler Family Fieldtrip" before school started. I can’t believe that dad got 1300 tickets!

That’s good that Thomas got his license finally. I’m sure you and dad are ready for him to start running errands for you. I still can’t believe that he was able to pass the eye test. That is so amazing to me. Is he going to drive my car yet? Make sure that if he does he keeps good care of it- especially the stereo. When I get home I want to put a subwoofer in there. Wouldn’t that be cool!

How did Anna end up taking a summer class from Jaclyn? That’s so cool. I bet she really enjoyed that. I’m glad you saw Megan. She really loves you. Every time I talked to her she said how much she loves you and wants to say hi to you.

Well things here are going great. I have developed such a love for this place. The people here are amazing and I even love rice and beans again. This Friday I get to go procelyting again. It will be really fun. Last time was really fun even though me and my companion didn’t understand anything they said. Now we know a lot more but we still won’t understand everything. Oh I got your letter and questionnaire and I just barely sent it off today. Good luck opening it though. Here in Brazil they don’t lick their letters shut they glue them shut and when I went to put glue on it, it went everywhere. So you’ll have to be creative on how to open it when you get it.

A few days ago I was looking back on when I arrived here at the CTM. My testimony has grown so much. My desire to serve has grown a lot and I’ve been learning Portuguese great. I am so surprised to see how much I can understand when a Brazilian talks to me.

Well how’s your writing? What’s the latest that you’ve worked on. Also I’ve heard from other missionaries that there’s some pretty bad stuff going on in the Middle East. What’s the latest news there? I love you very much mom. I’m so grateful to be your son. I’m having a lot of fun working and doing the best I can here in Brazil. Have a great week and I’ll write you next week!
I love you infinity!

(short letter to Dan)
Dan!

Hey I’m so excited to hear that you’re going to Brazil! I was wanting you to go so bad. You’ll love it here. It will be so sweet to be able to swap stories we’ve had. We will most likely be serving in Brazil when the members in Brazil reaches 1,000,000. Here in the CTM there’s a few of us that quote The Office. That show is everywhere. Yeah and I don’t know if you’ve heard or not but Elder Crose is one of my roommates. He says to tell you hi. I haven’t told him yet where you’re going but I will once I see him. We need to keep in touch here in Brazil. It costs 1 centavos to write a letter anywhere in Brazil. (That’s less that a penny and most of the time they’ll just let you send it for free as long as it’s to somewhere in Brazil). Well have a great few months preparing for your mission. Rio is so beautiful I hear. Every Brazilian I talk to that lived there goes on and on about how it’s the best state in Brazil. You’ll love it! Talk to you later man
