News from Sam

Hey!

That’s awesome you´re having a dodgeball rematch. You can´t lose with the 5 "d"s of dodgeball. I hope you and Thomas are having fun all by yourselves. I´ve got some interesting stories to tell you but you have to promise you won´t tell mom. There were three things that happened this week that were pretty crazy. the mafia here are killing hundreds of policemen and this week they 1) lit a gas station on fire that is three minutes away from the CTM, 2) there was a drug bust across the street from the CTM where 6 cop cars were, and 3) they threw a grenade in a government building that’s right across the street from where I´m emailing you right now. Don´t worry though most of the stuff they do is at night and they don´t hurt any civilians they are just trying to get a message across to the government or something. It´s pretty interesting to have all this stuff happening everywhere in Sao Paulo. That’s why they have the rule that we have to be in the CTM gates by 5:00 on P-Days.

Anyways this week has been a great learning week for Portuguese. My English has started to drop and Portuguese is becoming a little easier. This Friday we´re going procelying, so that will be an interesting experience. I hope you guys are all having fun. I´ll talk to you next week. I love you a lot.

Hey!!

You´re in St. George right now probably. I hope you´re having a fun time. I love the Bradshaw’s and hope they´re doing ok. This week has been both good and bad. I guess I’ll tell you the bad stuff first. One of my best friends here Elder Mcleod has been a great friend. We all get along together and stuff but me and Elder Mcleod and Elder Kellet (my companion) are best of friends. This last week Elder Mcleod has found out that he has anxiety and depression. It’s been so hard to see what he´s going through. He has the strongest testimony of anyone I´ve ever met and has been wanting to serve a mission his whole life. His anxiety is so bad that he can´t get hardly any sleep and he has anxiety attacks in class where he feels like he needs to just run away. I´ve been praying for him a lot and I’ve gone on a lot of walks with him around the short track we have here but he hasn’t been getting any better. He´s going to be going back home this week to try to fix everything that’s going wrong in his head.

This week I’ve really realized how lucky I am. I’ve got the best family in the world and I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. The good things about this week are that I’m still learning Portuguese at a decent pace. This Friday we´re going procelyting for 3 hours so that will be pretty interesting. We’ve memorized what to say but we won´t be able to talk back to them at all. I didn´t eat any rice and beans this week but I’m starting to crave them so I think I’m getting back into the food here. I’ll be waiting to get that letter you sent.

I love getting letters and I’ll make sure to send you guys a letter every once in a while and not just emails. I’m glad you chose that scripture for my placque. That is the one I really would have picked anyways. I love you very much and I hope you´re having a blast in St. George. I’ll talk to you next week!! I love you infinity!!
